The Ironworkers Local 103 apprenticeship is a well-organized training program that equips people with little or no knowledge of the craft to become highly skilled journeymen Ironworkers, qualified in all segments of the trade.

Apprenticeship training provides individuals with the skills needed to compete economically and work safely. Union members of the building and construction trades typically receive higher wages and better benefits than those employed by non-union contractors.
MONEY & PAY
Apprentices earn while they learn, meaning they get paid while receiving valuable education and job training. A Local 103 Ironworker’s hourly pay ranges from $22.80 for an Apprentice to $38.00 for a JIW.
SKILLS & TRAINING
On the job and in the classroom training, allows our Apprentices to earn valuable, in-demand certifications, including premier AWS welding certifications.
EDUCATION
Ironworkers have access to higher education. All Local 103 apprentices earn an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences from Ivy Tech Community College, enhancing their value in the workforce.
JOB SECURITY
Union Ironworkers have enhanced job security compared to non-union counterparts. Through collective bargaining and other agreements, Local 103 strives to provide year-round work to our membership.

Qualifications to become a Local 103 apprentice include a strong foundation of math and literacy skills along with the following:

Proof of citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S.
